Ecrix/Tandberg VXA, VXA-1, VXA-2 and VXA-3 data transfer and tape conversion

Ecrix/Exabyte/Tandberg VXA:

The VXA tape format is a variation on helical-scan magnetic tape data storage format, developed by Ecrix in 1999. Initial native (uncompressed) capacity was 33GB. 2002 saw the release of the VXA-2, with a native capacity of 80GB, and in 2005 VXA-3, with 160GB. The tape medium itself is 8mm wide, packaged in a compact plastic cartridge containing dual reels, and almost identical in appearance to Exabyte's 8mm tapes.
