The Magstar MP (Multi Purpose) 3570 B tape format is a 128-track magnetic tape data storage format originally developed by IBM in 1996, aimed specifically at the mid-range system market. The tape medium itself is 8mm wide, packaged in a dual-reel plastic cartridge, and has a native capacity of 5GB.
In 1998, IBM introduced the Magstar MP 3570 C drive, which has the same capacity, but higher throughput.
IBM's final development for the 3570 family came with the introduction of the extended-length 3570 C-XL cartridge, which increased capacity to 7GB.
